What do you talk about? Well, there are some fundamental topics to start from – for example, you can ask about their family, their education, job and hobbies. From there, you can develop the conversation by asking open-ended questions and showing genuine interest. It may also be an idea to have prepared questions and topics in mind and also to research latest news and current affair issues in the media. The aim is to try to find some common ground and interests. Once you have established some, the conversation should flow.
Remember your manners as well – try not to interrupt your date as this is very rude. Also, don’t constantly talk about yourself as this is seen as being self centred.
